Guiding principles and goals Each rifle build is approached as a one-off, custom build, with individual materials and components being pre-selected and matched to ensure that the best possible fit, finish and performance outcomes are achieved. Our technicians are true craftsmen who are emotionally invested in their work product and will not allow something to move to the next step without meeting their personal quality standards. Our goal is to produce world class hunting rifles with unmatched quality and performance.
Rifle Build/Manufacturing Process
- Each rifle is built using premium-grade materials and cutting-edge components.
- For a rifle to have the highest potential accuracy, it is critical to ensure that the barrel to action interface is machined as close to perfect as possible, with the center axis of the two components being perfectly aligned and the threads machined to at least a Class 3 fitment tolerance.
The following is how we achieve this goal for each rifle build:
- Each barrel’s bore is inspected prior to machining to ensure it is free of any debris or defects.
- The barrel blanks are cryo-treated by the manufacturer (X-Caliber) before we get them. Please see webpage here: https://x-caliber.net/cryogenic-treatment
- The barrel is then mounted in the lathe and the bore is accurately aligned with the working axis of the machine. Runout and concentricity are controlled to within .0002”
- The barrels tenon threads are single point cut and the fit is matched (hand fitted) to the individual action the barrel is being paired with.
- All breach end machining (tenon threads, bolt nose recess, and chambering) are all completed in the same operation to ensure perfect alignment.
- The chambers are cut using ridged mounted, piloted carbide reamers with through barrel flushing. Head space is hand fitted and adjusted to a tolerance of plus .001” to .0015”.
- Muzzle end threads are machined using these same processes to ensure trueness”
